This movie's garnered so much praise -- both from cinephiles and Criterion who's releasing it in the US in selected theatres -- that I had to check it out. I knew before viewing that it's mostly visual with little story, but the effects are supposed to be dazzling. Well... once again it proved that I'm not the kind who can enjoy a movie purely on effects alone. I'm not even sure the effects were that great, either. Yeah, I was pretty disappointed. Live and learn.
