#175: The Madonna's Secret (1946)

A mystery where every model painted by a man died unexpectedly. Was he or wasn't he the murderer? If not, whodunit?? A woman, who was sent by the police (or a PI), somehow became smitten with him, and he fell for her despite exposing her for working undercover. There's a few unintentionally funny scenes, especially the one between the aforementioned couple in the police station. The combination of overacting and close-up shot was so much that the whole crowd was laughing. Pretty lame mystery, but enjoyable and entertaining for the most part -- even if unintended. Not entirely sure why this is considered a film noir. The cinematographer was John Alton, and it is one very dark-shot movie. Just about every scene were either at night or very poor-lit. So, there you go.
